About Us

STUDIOS is dedicated to creating people-oriented designs that promote community and interaction. We support a variety of non-profit organizations and good causes, including efforts to improve education, rejuvenate communities, provide mentorship, and end hunger. Our philanthropic efforts include:

Public Architecture

STUDIOS has joined together with the non-profit organization Public Architecture in the 1% program, in which design firms donate their time to a variety of non-profits. Projects vary from office renovations to the design of new community facilities.

YMCA

STUDIOS provided pro bono graphic design services to transform a drab internal stair into a vibrant circulation element for the Embarcadero YMCA in San Francisco.

Net Impact

STUDIOS worked with non-profit Net Impact to design their new space in Oakland, California. We provided all services pro bono.

Net Impact is a community of over 80,000 student and professional leaders from over 300 volunteer-led chapters across the globe working for a sustainable future. They provide the network and resources to inspire emerging leaders to build successful “impact careers” - either by working in jobs dedicated to change or by bringing a social and environmental lens to traditional business roles.

Kiva

STUDIOS designed Kiva's new 17,000 sf offices. To support Kiva’s mission and to reinvest in both the local and global community, STUDIOS provided all services pro bono. Kiva provides micro-loans to emerging businesses in an effort to alleviate global poverty.

Alameda Point Collaborative

Working pro-bono, STUDIOS designed a new barn and tool shed for use in their community garden. APC works to end homelessness by providing housing and services to create communities where formerly homeless families and individuals can flourish.

USO Warrior and Family Care

STUDIOS donated design services (and also completed commissioned work for) the United Services Organization (USO) at Fort Belvoir and Bethesda. A nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities. USO Warrior and Family Care is a comprehensive long-term program that supports the continuum of care that helps provide wounded, ill or injured warriors with the hope and confidence to sustain their journey towards a full and rewarding life.

Leap Sand Castle Classic

Since 1997, STUDIOS has participated in the Leap Sand Castle Classic, an annual event to raise funds for art programs for K-8 schools.

Publicolor

STUDIOS regularly donates time and funds to Publicolor, an organization that works to repair and upgrade public school facilities, as well as raise money for youth education programs.

We Care

The day of seasonal celebration includes a variety of craft stations where children create holiday gifts for family and friends. Representatives from each city's foremost interior design firms and A+D Community are on hand to help and share in the holiday spirit.

Center for Architecture

Through exhibitions, programs, and special events, the Center aims to improve the quality and sustainability of the built environment, foster exchange between the design, construction, and real estate communities, and encourage collaborations across the city and globe.

DIFFA

DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS is one of the country’s largest supporters of direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS and preventive education for those at risk. Each spring in New York, DIFFA's DINING BY DESIGN debuts in a spectacular display of cuisine, creativity, and glamour. STUDIOS partnered with Marimekko to create a unique dining space for the event.

Canstruction

Canstruction® is a unique charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made entirely out of full cans of food. After the structures are built, the creations go on display to the public as a giant art exhibition. At the end of the event, all food is donated to local hunger relief organizations.

The National Building Museum

The National Building Museum is America’s leading cultural institution devoted to the history and impact of the built environment. Todd DeGarmo sits on the museum's Board of Directors, and STUDIOS DC participates each year in designing a hole for the mini-golf course.

The Museum of the City of New York

The Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation. Todd DeGarmo sits on the museum's Board of Directors.

New York Restoration Project (NYRP)

New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming open space in underserved communities to create a greener, more sustainable New York City. Todd DeGarmo servers on the organization's Board of Directors, and STUDIOS NY recently helped NYRP plant new trees to replace those lost during Super Storm Sandy.

JDRF

JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. STUDIOS DC participates each year in the JDRF Real Estate Games.
