STUDIOS Architecture worked in collaboration with architect William Russell to realize British fashion designer Alexander McQueen’s vision for a boutique store within its own building in the heart of the Melrose Shopping District. Minimal yet bold, the space is otherworldly–a monochromatic setting for the sometimes outrageous McQueen creations. Display fixtures are suspended from vaulted ceilings that seamlessly curve into walls and the polished terrazzo floor. Lighting is integrated in diffuse light boxes and coves while the central “mothership” form houses dressing rooms. A VIP fitting suite is discreetly tucked into the back of the store.
