In 2014, Christie’s wished to expand its Paris offices in the building it occupies on the Avenue Matignon. The new floor houses the Senior Management, the Contemporary and Impressionist Art Departments and the Asian Art and Photography Departments as well. A large meeting area is where clients are received.
This floor is divided in two by a long corridor providing access to all the
offices. On one side, a floor-to-ceiling, lighted bookcase made of wood
undulates from one end of the space to the other. The shelves house Christie’s collection of art books, a genuine symbol of the company’s knowledge and the spine of the entire project.
In 2016, Christie’s again called upon STUDIOS, this time to renovate and
modernize its James Auction Room, a space comprised of 325 m² on the
basement level. The bright ceiling is broadly inspired by the room as it was
in the early 19th century when it served as an exhibition space.
