STUDIOS, in collaboration with Jacobs and Austin Commercial, won a competition to design the new Radiological Laboratory Utility Office Building for Los Alamos National Laboratory.
The design/build project consists of two separate but adjacent buildings: a 175,000 gsf four-story office and laboratory building, and a 24,000 gsf two-story central utility building.
Site development, building orientation and materials were carefully selected in response to the special requirements for weather and environmental factors. The massing is stepped and articulated to respond to topographic conditions and the local high desert design vernacular.
Due to security restrictions, we were unable to professionally photograph the completed building.
