STUDIOS worked with an Abu Dhabi-based developer to refine the first phase of a larger master plan on Yas South, Yas Island, in Abu Dhabi. Yas Island had gone through several master planning phases. STUDIOS was asked to further design within the commercial master plan, including the design of two sites slated to create an office space geared toward media tenants and conceptual design of three additional sites as a future phase.
With a focus on creating a high-quality “Media Zone” that would place Abu Dhabi on the global map for technology and media tenants, STUDIOS’ design creates a cohesive campus that inspires collaboration and creativity. Overlapping and intersecting office “bars” create a dynamic campus and energy. These create large entry points to the campus, amenity spaces, courtyards, and overhands that become natural points of connectivity in which employees can connect. The large floorplates are efficient, providing ample flexibility for various workplace planning solutions while allowing ample daylight and views.
The design is cohesive unto itself while remaining porous and permeable in relation to the larger media boulevard as part of the Yas Island master plan. The campus’ landscape and hardscape are both vivid and playful, encouraging movement throughout. Pedestrians can move organically through the campus while employees also can easily connect to adjacent public parks and amenities.
