STUDIOS was part of the design/build team chosen to renovate four of the five wedges of The Pentagon. The resulting concept incorporates innovative planning methodology and design while remaining sensitive to the unique characteristics of this historic building. The approach allows the Pentagon to completely redesign its space every four years with each change of the Joint Chief of Staff, and supports the frequent modifications required by individual tenants or agencies.

Each wedge of The Pentagon houses 600 user groups, each with constantly changing facility needs. STUDIOS’ flexible space design-along with a hybrid system of adaptable furnishings-allows for 90% build-out prior to tenant planning. Work environments can shift from enclosed offices to open plan without affecting utility distribution or requiring construction.

STUDIOS’ concept provides the Pentagon with unlimited planning capabilities, maximum user control and spatial efficiency, and minimizes future costs for necessary modifications over the next fifty years.
