“The design activates the building lobby and transforms the former campus police headquarters into an open, vibrant social space. The design team synthesized all of the elements with technology and sustainability in mind to create a beautiful and unique community center.”

– Kathy Fitzgerald, Director of Project Management

STUDIOS designed the partial renovation of the existing three-story, 75,000 sf Kinross Graduate Student Center to provide much desired student life spaces for the nearby residential housing facilities. The scope of work involves reconfiguration of various spaces – such as art and dance studios, and offices – as well as the design of a new fitness center with cardio and weight rooms, a yoga studio, and an outdoor fitness area. The updated space will also include a new graduate student lounge and study area, as well as retail space.

UCLA’s key goals for the project are to reinforce the University’s academic image, create a public identity for the building entry and interior spaces, and to provide a collegial environment where graduate students can gather.
