CuDC’s vision for its gallery depended on mobility to break down the barriers to art too often found in traditional presentation venues. Traveling to all eight wards of DC, the Mobile Art Gallery has already received more visitors in its two years than the original gallery received in fifteen.

Activating unexpected places.

With each change of location, the Mobile Art Gallery has hosted workshops, lectures, and community engagements, demonstrating the ability for innovative, provocative art to cut across cultural, social, and economic boundaries. Offering residents of the nation’s capital direct access to unique creative experiences, high quality art arrives at the center of each destination community. By bringing its installations directly to the public, the Gallery serves as the District’s catalyst for conversations beyond the art in its container.
