City Council Approves Expansion Plan For Chelsea Market

New York’s City Council has overwhelmingly approved the plan put forth by Jamestown Properties and STUDIOS to expand the Chelsea Market building. The 290,000-square-foot addition will include office space, allowing media and tech companies already located in the neighborhood to expand and grow. STUDIOS’ design preserves the historic building’s facade and 75% of its retail space. STUDIOS completed a renovation of Chelsea Market’s 9th Avenue facade and entry last year. In addition, Jamestown will also invest in affordable housing units, a youth technology center, and continued work on the High Line.
