In 2012, STUDIOS was tasked by GSA Public Buildings Service’s Office of Real Property Asset Management (RPAM) (PT) and the GSA Center for Workspace Delivery (PAC) to assist them in developing requirements for a cutting-edge demonstration office space to test new ways of working that best support the RPAM staff, including addressing the GSA Administrators challenge of creating a more mobile work force. This “living lab pilot project for the mobile worker” is located in existing space in the 7300 Wing of the GSA Headquarters Building, 1800 F Street NW, Washington, DC. The goals of the project are to provide a professional workplace that encourages and supports a collaborative work environment for GSA’s telecommuting workforce. Success of the project was then analyzed in terms of increased teamwork and collaboration, improved productivity, energy savings and a reduction of the overall footprint, and improved utilization of real estate.
