Marimekko, the Finnish fashion and lifestyle brand, recently established its own flagship store in the former at 200 Fifth Avenue in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan.

STUDIOS completed renovations at 200 Fifth in 2010 and acted as Architect of Record to Japanese architectural firm IMA, in cooperation with Marimekko’s internal design team.

The 3,800-square-foot space emphasizes Marimekko’s signature bright colors and graphic patterns. The concrete floor, naked ceiling, and exposed brick walls reveal the historic character of the building, while simple, custom displays define the retail space. Featured fabrics, fashions, and textiles hang playfully from the ceiling. The space is colorful and simply assembled, reflecting the nature of the brand.
