Morgan Lewis, one of Washington DC’s largest law firms, asked STUDIOS to help them relocate their offices to a prominent site on Pennsylvania Avenue. The move was necessary to accommodate the firm’s growth and to better reflect its position in the legal community.

Extensive renovation to the existing building was required, including the addition of two floors and a new wing. A 13-story atrium was created within the new wing. STUDIOS collaborated with Carpenter Norris to develop a glass, steel and Lycra solar light pipe that disperses sunlight-reflected downward from a rooftop mirror-throughout the entire atrium.

The ground floor houses security functions, while public spaces such as the primary reception area, the visitors’ business center and conference rooms reside on the second floor. The thirteenth floor features an employee dining room with a terrace that overlooks the Old Post Office, with views of the Washington Monument and the Capitol.
