STUDIOS has been commissioned by the owner to convert a high-rise office tower of 60 m set over 19 floors into a 4 star hotel. Set in a prime position in central Paris, it was designed by Roger Gonthier and completed in 1974.
STUDIOS undertook an initial feasibility to determine how best to bring it back to market standards. The building is technically obsolete and has significant non-conformities including a historic facade that does not meet thermal performance requirements, an inefficient hot and cold system,
under-utilised floorplates and an outdated fire security system.
Three solutions were developed independently enabling the client to have a comprehensive and complete vision of the various possible options. The hotel scenario was retained and the unique position to the east of the city will offer rare panoramic views over Paris from most of the 249 planned rooms. Positioned at the foot of the Gare de Lyon, the hotel will be perfectly located to welcome a varied clientèle, from tourists to business executives,
and will include a client conference center and a restaurant.
