STUDIOS Participates in the 18th Annual Design Within Reach Champagne Chair Contest

Results are in for the 2022 Design Within Reach Champagne Chair Contest — a great competition promoting the practice of creative reuse in our field. Designers were invited to re-imagine a champagne cork as a miniature chair model. Renewable, recyclable, and 100% biodegradable, cork is an exceptional green building material. Its modern applications have ranged from tile flooring to exterior facades.

STUDIOS’ Stuart Doyle submitted a concept for a simple, clean-line chair that celebrates the natural shape and texture of the cork. He says, “As a real-scale chair, I see the form as one easily understood and inviting, something everyone feels comfortable approaching.”
