New Managing Principals in San Francisco and Los Angeles

We are excited to announce the new Managing Principals for our West Coast studios.

In their new roles, Jason and Ben will drive practice management, design innovation, and professional development. Both will continue to lead significant planning and design efforts for the firm.

Jason McCarthy, AIA

Jason has been promoted to Managing Principal of our San Francisco studio. He joined the firm in 1993. As a designer, architect, and manager, Jason is able to quickly absorb the key elements of his clients’ culture, and synthesize the myriad of complex goals, influences, and opportunities that are unique to each project.

Over his three-decade career, Jason has worked on a breadth of projects, leading master planning and design for new construction and interiors for R&D, technology, and biotech clients as well as civic centers, campus hubs, and other community-driven projects. He has worked extensively within the Stanford Research Park, as well as with research institutions including the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is currently working on the redevelopment of the 63-acre SRI International campus in Menlo Park.

Jason is a licensed architect in California and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from UC Berkeley.

Ben Kracke
Ben Kracke

Ben Kracke, AIA, IIDA

Ben has been promoted to Managing Principal of our Los Angeles studio. He has been with the firm for 14 years, starting in the Washington DC studio and joining the Los Angeles team in 2014. In addition to his thorough technical knowledge and expertise, Ben is a natural team builder, working closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and the STUDIOS team to ensure clear communication and to deliver successful projects.

Ben heads up a variety of project types from interiors and major renovations to new construction for academic and commercial clients, with an emphasis on workplace design for media, entertainment, and gaming companies. Recent clients include Paramount+, Riot Games, Scopley, IGN Entertainment, and Nickelodeon, among others. Ben also works with building owners to make strategic enhancements to existing structures, such as the iconic Watt Plaza in Century City.

In addition to his practice management and project responsibilities, Ben serves as Chair on STUDIOS’ Sustainability Council and is a member of our DEIB Council. Ben is a licensed architect in California and Washington, DC. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the International Interior Design Association, and a LEED-accredited professional. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University.
