The Future of Student Life: The Zoom Room

DATEAugust 11, 2021

How have students' needs and expectations for their university experience shifted during the pandemic? In this series, we consider some of the ways student life may look different post-Covid.

The Zoom Room

During the pandemic, many universities have found that remote learning can be highly effective in some contexts. For instance, some students are better able to focus without the distractions inherent to large lecture halls, and the video chat function allows them to post questions that otherwise would be difficult to ask. Continuing to conduct some courses via video conference will also allow universities to enroll more students in fewer sections and provide greater access to remote lecturers and guest speakers.

In a shift to a hybrid model of in-class and remote-while-on-campus learning, students will desire suitable spaces where they can attend video classes.
