Outreach and Engagement: Women in Architecture

As part of our ongoing efforts to advance diversity and inclusion within our industry, we recently took part in two virtual events focused on encouraging and educating young women about careers in architecture.

The McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. Virtual Construction 101 event took place over two days and featured speakers from across the A/E/C industry. STUDIOS Associate Belinda Valenti participated in the event, sharing her professional challenges and successes with over 150 high school girls from around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Firm Fest, an annual event held by the USC Student Association for Women in Architecture, pairs architecture students with practicing architects to learn about both their individual career paths and the profession as a whole. STUDIOS Principal Melissa Duffy and Associate Atousa Shafizadeh joined in a series of small group discussions covering topics from professional goals and achievements to personal passions.

We are also currently working with Vital Voices Global Partnership, an organization that identifies and partners with women leaders across the globe who have a daring vision for progress.
