FTI tapped STUDIOS to transform their workspace to better support the specialized culture of experts. STUDIOS provided design expertise starting with site search and workplace strategy exercises.
During the site search process STUDIOS helped FTI to evaluate how each location being considered would achieve their technical requirements, but also create the desired experience and support existing and expected working habits. Showing design options and clearly indicating the impact on headcount, ratios, or other quantitative metrics translated to smarter design solutions and a smooth process.
The three main elements that make up the FTI flexible workspace
Work zone: Agile Workstations
During the initial discovery phase, FTI showed interest in employing a hoteling strategy for workstations.
Work zone: Enclosed Spaces
The modular 12x12 enclosed spaces can operate as meeting spaces, single offices, double offices, or lounge with integrated tech and easy to adapt furniture
Flex space
The flex spaces, oriented toward the core, provide secure and secluded spaces for quiet work, connecting with clients or with other offices, or drop in offices.
Between the three FTI Consulting floors—14th through 16th floors— there were existing openings cut between them. The design team made the decision to keep them early in the process, ultimately inserting a stair that promotes social connections that were missing in FTI’s other New York locations previously. The space is a blend of finely tuned workspace, with a smart infrastructure that provides ultimate flexibility, and a concentration of energy.
“STUDIOS outperformed any other firm with their workplace strategy response for our New York City office.”
