STUDIOS was retained to preserve the essential genesis of the buildings while creating a more cohesive, convivial, and collegiate feeling on the site as well as a general sense of order, albeit an organic one. Landscaping and site planning were critical to the recasting of the site. The design was guided by the fact that in a one-story world, there are ample interfaces between the interior and exterior—a real traditional California allegory.

From a sustainability point of view, we were able to fully repurpose the older shells with minimal rework except to improve performance by opening the building up with skylights, adding insulation, improving HVAC, and letting the energy of the buildings project from the inside out.

Meta’s Dumbarton Campus transformed an existing auto-oriented business park into a well-connected, multi-modal, and amenity-rich campus with a vibrant, pedestrianized core. The site and landscape planning creates a dynamic and fluid experience through distinct outdoor neighborhoods –providing spaces for outdoor working, dining, fitness, events, and relaxation.

Meta was recognized at Fitwel’s “Best in Building Health” event in March 2022 for having the Greatest Impact on Building Health with their leadership in building healthy and sustainable workplaces.
