STUDIOS partnered with The Sobrato Organization to revitalize an outdated four-building campus located in Santa Clara, California. Through a series of strategic building upgrades and outdoor features, we created an attractive campus that offers the flexibility and amenity spaces desired by Science, R+D, and technology tenants.
We started by replacing the existing black tinted glass and concrete facades with high-performance curtain wall glazing and metal panels to allow more light into the floorplates while controlling heat gain. We also incorporated new canopies to mark building entries and to create a sense of identity for future tenants.
Mingling new landscaping with existing features—such as the sculptures and courtyard water feature—we united the different buildings across the campus and created a calm and inviting ambiance in the outdoor spaces. We also updated grading and paths of travel.
We capitalized on the updated courtyard and walking paths by adding a new deck and outdoor kitchen.
We gutted the interiors of all four buildings, providing a blank slate for new tenants, and transformed the dark, large floorplates by inserting new skylights and atria to bring in natural light. Working with Sobrato, we developed select interior spaces to showcase the possibilities for potential tenants.
