STUDIOS’ innovative vision has allowed an historic building to make a flamboyant entrance into the 21st century.
With a glass roof open to the skies above, this Haussmann-era construction blends contemporary and classic elements.
This 21st- century architectural gem has maintained its historic splendor.
At the start, the project was about updating a prestigiously located Haussmann-era building to increase its value before putting it up for sale. Indeed, the 1864 structure, measuring approximately 1,300 square meters, had dated decor and impractical access points and was not fully exploiting its potential.
To revamp the building’s image and grow capacity, STUDIOS restructured the courtyard and raised the roof with a two-level extension.

The shape of the vertical extension is inspired by the silhouettes of Haussmann-era buildings and the glass panels are punctuated by polished aluminum ribs that recall the lines of the city’s traditional zinc roofs.
The building’s transparency and its three levels of green terraces offer superb views of the sky and the monuments of Paris, thereby creating a powerful link to the city around it.
With a glass roof open to the skies above, this Haussmann-era construction blends contemporary and classic elements.

Spaces overlooking the courtyard were enlarged and a new facade was erected.
Composed of floor-to-ceiling glass panels, the interior facade mirrors the building’s street facade. The glass facades were digitally engraved with three different patterns to optimize thermal performance while creating vertical movement and a play of shadow and light.
