In 2009 STUDIOS was selected to provide a long-term planning and design solution for the United Nations Foundation’s Headquarters in Washington, DC.

STUDIOS first task was the development of a strategic programming document to outline the client’s real estate needs for the next 10+ years. This program established the criteria for a space study and search effort in the Washington, DC market for a suitable headquarters re-location. A comprehensive understanding of the client and their goals in support of the United Nations causes and activities was critical to the development of the strategic program.
Vertical village
Vertical village

The UN Foundation has a need for flexible, highly collaborative office space with advanced telecommunication and conferencing capabilities. The design concept created is organized around a “vertical village” for UNF, which highlights openness, accessibility and fosters communication and creative exchange of ideas.

STUDIOS also designed the UN Foundations New York City office. The 10,000 sf office was used as a test case to implement new office layouts and workplace strategies prior to the Washington headquarters project.
